As self-service lodging, Timp Lodge allows you to plan and customize activities for you and your family to enjoy. While you are certainly not limited to the following suggestions, we do want you to be aware of common activities at the lodge and in the area.

Indoors
Timp Lodge has much to offer with recent renovations. Some of the popular family activities include:

  • Family talent shows on the stage
  • Foosball and ping pong tournaments
  • Family movie night on the projector screen (bring DVD's or a laptop to stream)
  • Arts and crafts (bring your own supplies, we have plenty of tables and chairs)
  • Board games and card games (There are some classics at the lodge, but please bring your family favorites as well)
  • Slide shows of old family pictures on projector
  • Video game tournament on the projector (bring a console that connect to HDMI)

Outdoors - Summer
With beautiful vistas, fresh mountain air, and 10 acres of forest, outdoors is the place to be at Timp Lodge in the summer. Here's what many families enjoy while they're here:

Outdoors - Winter
As the warm seasons come to a close, Timp Lodge becomes a winter wonderland. While the indoors are perfect for cozy evening, there are some great outdoor opportunities as well:

  • Snowshoeing (Rentals from BYU Outdoors Unlimited can be found here.)
  • Sledding
  • Cross country skiing (Rentals from BYU Outdoors Unlimited can be found here.)

Food can make or break a family gathering. Planning it out ahead of time will make all of the difference. The kitchen at Timp Lodge is equipped with the following:

  • A 60" Forno Gas Range with 10 burners and two 4.32 cu. ft. ovens
  • A 49 cu. ft. fridge
  • A 10 cu. ft. freezer
  • Three 22 in. countertop grills
  • A vast array of cooking utensils

Here are some ways we've commonly seen it done:

  • Each family is assigned meals or a day to cook.
  • Family members cooks their specialty for each meal (ex. Aunt Sally does all the barbecue and Uncle Joe bakes desserts for each meal).
  • Each family provides their own meals.
  • A family member is the cook that plans and organizes the meals, with help from everyone else.

Here are some meals that we've seen work really well:

  • Hamburgers and hotdogs on the outside barbeque. The charcoal grills outside have lots of room and can cook many very quickly.
  • Pancakes and bacon on the countertop grills. The countertop grills can cook lots of pancakes and bacon at once.
  • Pulled pork, soup, and other slow cooker meals that can be cooking while you are enjoying time and activities with family. There is an outlet strip on the serving counter that could accomodate many at the same time. We don't have slow cookers at the lodge, you would need to bring your own.

One of the great features of Timp Lodge is it's large capacity. There are 62 twin beds arranged barracks style in the three upstairs bedroom. The beds have a fitted sheet, pillow, and pillowcase provided, each person will need to bring their own blanket and toiletries. A diagram of the upstairs arrangments can be found here. On the main floor, there are two twin beds in the ADA bedroom. Additionally, sleeping pads or mattresses can be used on the main floor and tents can be set up on the upper lawn. Here are some common ways that it's set up:

  • Kids take one or two of the upstairs bedrooms or sleep downstairs and the adults take the other.
  • Each family chooses a section that they sleep in and if there aren't enough beds they bring tents or RV's (no hookups available and they take up several parking spaces.)

We want you to arrive safe and sound at Timp Lodge. The parking lot has 33 spaces, so it would be good to arrange to carpool if you think there might be too many vehicles otherwise.

In the winter, Alpine Loop Road is a Class II Tractions Segment that requires 4WD or traction devices such as snow chainsduring snowy or icy road conditions. For more information on the requirements, please visit the UDOT website here. If snow accumulation is in the weather forecast, our snow removal team will do all they can to keep the road and parking lot clear.

Please be aware that posting directional or informational signs along the roads is prohibited by state law, so it's best to make sure ahead of time that people know where they are going.

If you are planning on having a family reunion in June or July, it is best to make a reservation a year in advance. Reservations can be requested 12 months in advance, beginning on the first of that month. For example, if you wanted to make a reservation for the last week of June of next year, sending in a reservation on the 1st of June this year would give you the best chance of receiving the dates you requested.

August and May tend to fill up slower than June and July, reservations during those months are more likely to be available later. September through April is much more open, especially weekdays.
